ED BAUMAN

(Previous page)

Ed has always been a musical perfectionist, looking for better music to listen to and play, particularly songs with harmonies. He took piano lessons when he was 8 and hated them. He learned to like folk music and guitar at camp when 9 – thank you Jerry Silverman! Ed took some guitar lessons, and later taught himself to play both guitar and piano. He joined his first band in junior high school(Does anybody remember “Snoopy vs. the Red Baron”?), played in high school(“Born to be Wild”), and sang in the high school chorus.

Ed met Len and joined his band Ed’s freshman year in college, after singing with them in a stairwell, and their band played folk-rock, rock, and jazz. Even then, it was the harmonies that got to Ed. He did some coffee houses with another friend towards the end of college. Ed took every Theory and Harmony course in the Music department he was allowed to take, as a non-music major.

Ed’s playing of music went on hiatus for years, due to graduate school, work, and kids, and he was content to watch his children develop their music, with far more talent than his.

Moving back to the East Coast from L.A. brought Ed back in contact with Len, and they played a few times over the years. The idea of the current band adventure got Ed to pick up his guitars again, occasionally sit down at a keyboard, and figure out arrangements again. He now does vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, and arranges music in the band.

Ed preoccupies himself with other interests besides music, such as cooking, especially barbecue, and movies, exercise, and looking for great take-out.

Oh, and besides all of the above, Ed can be found spending the majority of his time working as a psychologist.
